Empowering my daughter through affirmations

Hey hey, Beautiful Souls!

Gooooood morning! ☕️

Welcome back to The Lift Up!

A daily newsletter for all Melanated Kings and Queens 👑

Today, I want to share a very personal story with you about the power of positive affirmations, especially in the face of adversity.

It’s a story about my daughter, the light of my life, and a challenge we faced together.

A while ago, I learned that my daughter was being bullied at school.

As a mother, my first instinct was to protect her, to rush in and make everything right.

But this time, I chose a different approach.

I turned to the power of affirmations, something that has transformed my own life, hoping it would do the same for her.

I started by teaching her simple yet powerful affirmations. Every morning before school, we would say these together:

"I am loved,"

"I am strong,"

"I am valuable."

I watched as these words slowly seeped into her spirit, strengthening her from the inside out.

We recorded them into her phone and she’d listen to the statement on her headphones while doing homework and on the way to school.

And then, something beautiful happened. As her confidence grew, she began to find her own voice.

She started to stand up for herself, and what's even more beautiful, she attracted a group of friends who were drawn to her newfound energy.

These kids didn’t just have her back; they shared her vibe, her laughter, and her joy.

They became her tribe, a group of friends that supported and uplifted each other.

This journey with my daughter taught me an invaluable lesson about the strength of affirmations.

They are more than just words y’all; they are tools for building resilience and self-esteem, particularly in young black girls who face unique challenges in this world.

Affirmations helped my daughter transform a painful situation into one of growth and friendship. They gave her a shield against negativity and a foundation that encouraged her to build relationships based on mutual respect and kindness.

If you’re a parent, I encourage you to explore affirmations with your children.

I promise you, the impact can be profound, not just for them, but for you as well.

Witnessing my daughter bloom in this way has been one of my proudest moments as a mom.

Thank you for allowing me to share this slice of our life with you. It’s my hope that our story can inspire and encourage you or someone you know to harness the transformative power of affirmations.

Don’t be afraid to teach your kiddo a few affirmations!!

Remember, the words we speak to our children and ourselves have power. Let's use them to heal, to empower, and to uplift.

Sending you love and light,

Amari
